Update 6 November 2013: The registration details, preliminary programme, and venue and travel pages have been added.

Following a call for missions in July 2010, ESA selected in February 2011 four candidates for a medium-class mission – M3 mission – for a launch opportunity in 2024.

The mission concepts of the four candidates (EChO, LOFT, MarcoPolo-R, and STE-QUEST) are currently studied together with PLATO, retained from the previous selection round, as candidates for the M3 launch opportunity.

Details of the mission concepts are available at http://sci.esa.int/cosmicvision.

The mission concepts are nearing the completion of their Assessment Phase study activities, and the Advisory Structure to the ESA Science Programme will be asked, in January 2014, to recommend which concept should be carried forward for Definition Phase activities. The Science Programme Committee will then select one mission in February of 2014.

In view of this selection, the five M3-mission concepts EChO, LOFT, MarcoPolo-R, PLATO, and STE-QUEST will be presented to the scientific community on 21 January 2014, at the Institut Océanographique de Paris (195 rue Saint-Jacques, 75005 Paris, France). The meeting is foreseen to start at 9:00 and will end at 16:30.

All interested parties (scientific community, industry, national funding agencies, etc.) are invited to attend this event. Practical details and logistic information are available at the links in the right-hand menu.

The Assessment Study Reports (also known as the Yellow Books) and the Technical Review Reports for each of the five candidates (EChO, LOFT, MarcoPolo-R, PLATO and STE-QUEST) are now available to download - see Related Publications in the right-hand menu.
