    Mars Express Invitation to Tender

    27 Jul 1998

The Invitation to Tender for Mars Express has been issued to European Industry.

The closing date for proposals is 4 September. The proposals will then be formally evaluated by ESA, with the intention of starting Phase B in February 1999.

Mars Express will be the first 'flexible mission' in the revised ESA long-term scientific programme and is planned to be launched towards Mars in June 2003 with a Soyuz/Fregat launcher.
