A cut at z=0 RE shows shows no evidence for K-H waves at the flank magnetopause. Surface waves get excited by SW density fluctuation, but they do not seem to be correlated with plasma entry. This animation is part (page 9) of the presentation "Cold Dense Plasma Sheet Formation During Northward IMF" given by J. Reader at the 2005 Cluster-Double Star symposium.
