    Galaxy Cluster Collision

    Date: 15 May 2007
    Satellite: Hubble Space Telescope
Depicts: Illustration of galaxy cluster collision (for Cl 0024+17)
Copyright: NASA, ESA, M.J. Jee and A. Feild (STScI)

This is a simulation of two interacting galaxy clusters and the corresponding evolution of the dark matter components. The illustration gives two views: a side view (left) and a view along the direction of the collision (right), which in the case of cluster Cl 0024+17 is how it is observed from Earth.
