The two Cluster satellites Samba and Tango were manoeuvred to achieve a minimum separation distance of only 17 kilometres - the smallest separation distance ever achieved for two ESA satellites. Starting 21 June 2007, during their collective Earth orbit the two spacecraft will reach this smallest separation distance when they are close to perigee.
