    Cluster measurements of magnetic reconnection

    Date: 29 Jun 2007
    Satellite: Cluster
Depicts: Magnetic reconnection observations on 1 October 2001
Copyright: Courtesy of Dr. Xiao, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China

The four panels show from top to bottom:

    a) Three components of the magnetic field measured by the fourth Cluster spacecraft named Tango on 1 October 2001 from 09:45 UT till 09:51 UT
    b) Three components of the flow velocity measured by Tango over the same time period
    c) Bz component of the magnetic field measured by the four Cluster spacecraft, colour coding shown on top of this panel, during the period 09:48:20-09:48:50 UT
    d) the corresponding Poincaré index over the same time period as the c) panel
