13 May 2009: Roll-out of the launcher carrying Herschel and Planck

On 13 May at around 13:40 CEST, 8:40 local time at the launch site in Kourou, the Ariane 5 carrying Herschel and Planck rolled out of the BAF en route to the launch pad.

The roll-out of the launcher was announced at 8:40 local time (13:40 CEST) after which the launcher was pulled out of the BAF (final assembly building). The 2.6 km journey to the launch pad was completed at 10:15 local time (15:15 CEST).

Launch is scheduled for 14 May 2009 at 13:12 UTC (15:12 CEST). Details of the sequence of events can be found in the timeline at the end of this page. The launch will be broadcast live on the ESA channel on mogulus starting at 11:55 UTC (13:55 CEST).
