X-ray Astronomy 2009 - Present status, multi-wavelength approach and future perspectives

    Event Details:
    From: 07 Sep 2009
    To: 11 Sep 2009
Address: Aula Absidale di Santa Lucia
    Bologna
    Country: Italy
More info: Link to event website

Third in a decadal series of X-ray astronomy conferences held in Bologna, the meeting will highlight the contributions of XMM-Newton, Chandra and Suzaku observatories over the last ten years and celebrate the International Year of Astronomy (IYA2009). Major observational and theoretical aspects of X-ray emission will be addressed from a wide range of cosmic sources. Emphasis will be given to multi-wavelength studies of cosmic sources and associated synergies with major facilities at all wavelengths, and on the perspectives for future high-energy astrophysics missions.

The main scientific topics of the conference are:

    • Stars and Supernova remnants
    • Interacting binaries
    • Galaxy surveys
    • Active galactic nuclei
    • X-ray and multi-wavelength surveys
    • Clusters of galaxies
    • Present and future missions
