Ida 3-D temperature model



Ida's 3-D temperature profile is one of the products that can be obtained with the model developed by Johan Lagerros and ESA astronomer Thomas M|ller. They have established a very accurate program to predict the brightness of asteroids at any given time, a type of data that will be useful in the calibrations of future infrared space telescopes such as ESA's FIRST (due to launch in 2007). The picture shown here of Ida is based on shape models coming from Galileo images.
