WISDOM (Water Ice and Subsurface Deposit Observation on Mars) is a subsurface sounding radar, and forms part of the ExoMars rover instrument suite. WISDOM will provide a detailed view of the structure of the subsurface of the Red Planet by studying the upper layers of the Martian crust.

This image shows the WISDOM instrument prototype carried on a rover model during tests in the Austrian Alps. During these field tests, the instrument prototype produced pilot data in a side cave on a giant ice lens.

WISDOM development is led by LATMOS in France under the supervision of ESA.
