A mineral sample, heated to over 400 °C, emits infrared light in the Planetary Emissivity Laboratory at DLR in Berlin. The characteristic spectrum of this infrared emission will be measured, and compared with that observed at Venus, in order to identify minerals on the surface of Venus.
