This exploded diagram shows the main elements of the Gaia spacecraft, including, from top to bottom:
- Thermal tent
- Payload Module (including the torus and bi-pods, two telescopes, and the Focal Plane Assembly)
- Service Module main structure
- Propellant tanks and pressurant tanks
- Antenna Support Panel with the Phased Array Antenna
- Deployable Sunshield Assembly (about 10.2 m across)
- Eight solar panels, attached to outside of the deployable sunshield
- Fixed solar array at the base of the spacecraft
