The warped disc of our galaxy, the Milky Way

The galactic disc of the Milky Way, our galaxy, is not flat but warped upwards on one side and downwards on the other. Data from ESA's galaxy-mapping spacecraft Gaia provides new insights into the behaviour of the warp and its possible origins.
