The XVIII Canary Islands Winter School of Astrophysics, organized by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC), is dedicated to the detection techniques, study and analysis of astrophysical objects with emission lines. These lines are powerful means to detect the faintest objects and to study their composition and physical properties. The aim of the XVIII Winter School is to give a thorough introduction to the emission line universe from the theoretical and observational points of view.
