The good correlation between the radio and infrared wavelength fluxes for galaxies is one of the most powerful tracers of the progress of star formation in other galaxies. AKARI's survey of more than 15 000 objects traces star formation history back to a redshift of about 1, corresponding to about 3000 million years after the Big Bang.
