ESA's Jupiter Ganymede Orbiter will characterize Ganymede as a planetary object, and will investigate its potential habitability by studying the internal ocean, surface composition and geology. Other studies to be performed include measurements of the intrinsic magnetic field and its interactions with Jovian magnetosphere, determining the physical properties of the icy crust, characterisation of the mass distribution within Ganymede, studying Ganymede's internal dynamics and evolution, and investigating the moon's exosphere.
