ESA Participation in External Activities
AVO
The Astrophysical Virtual Observatory (AVO) Project is a Phase-A, three year study for the design and implementation of a virtual observatory for European astronomy. ESA participation is led by ST-ECF.
DataGRID
This project, funded by EC and lead by CERN with the participation of ESA ESRIN, aims to develop a first large-scale multidiscipline (mainly dedicated to High Energy Physics but also Earth Observation and bioengineering) GRID infrastructure and the necessary "middleware".
DATATAG
The fundamental objective of the DataTAG project is to create a large-scale intercontinental Grid testbed involving the DataGRID project, several national projects in Europe, and related Grid projects in the USA. This will allow to explore advanced networking technologies and interoperability issues between different Grid domains.
