Assembling one of JUICE's solar wings

Intermediate step of the integration of the individual JUICE solar panels into a wing at the Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands facilities in Leiden, in September 2020.

JUICE's two solar wings each comprise five panels in a distinctive cross shape: three in-line panels joined along their short edges, with two lateral panels joined on either side of the central panel, along its long edges. Each individual panel measures about 2.5 × 3.5 m.

Seen here from the back, and oriented vertically, one wing is taking shape as its two lateral panels, supported by overhead cranes, are being joined with two in-line panels. The third in-line panel, the one that will be closest to the spacecraft, is to be integrated in the middle at the top.
