The LISA Pathfinder science module (top) and propulsion module (below), in the launch composite configuration, pictured in the acoustic noise test facility at IABG, Ottobrunn, Germany, prior to acoustic noise tests that were carried out in early July 2015.
Acoustic noise tests are carried out to make sure the modules can survive the intense noise generated by the launcher rocket engines in the first few seconds after ignition.
