Transfer of Planck FM Telescope to Large Space Simulator

Transfer of Planck FM Telescope to Large Space Simulator

29 June 2006

Yesterday, 28 June 2006, the Planck Flight Model Telescope was transferred to the Large Space Simulator (LSS).

The Planck FM Telescope is hoisted from its GSE (left) and transferred to the LSS (right) by means of the overhead crane.

After the arrival last weekend at ESTEC, unpacking, and several preliminary videogrammetry measurements in the clean room, the Planck FM Telescope yesterday was hoisted up from its ground support equipment (GSE) and transferred to the LSS on the other side of the clean room.  Here, after a full Test Readiness Review and a pump-down and cool-down period, the videogrammetry measurements of the telescope at low temperatures will be performed.  Today, 29 June, preparations for the upcoming tests were ongoing with the Planck FM Telescope inside the LSS.
