The Payload Technology Validation section has a strong heritage in many experimental areas as well as in the development and testing of flight hardware, for missions such as Rosetta, SOHO and STEREO.
The strong background in cryogenics is inherited from previous work on super-conducting detectors, and similar technology will be used in the ATHENA mission.
