Double Star Status Report - March 2008

Double Star Status Report - March 2008

Mission StatusContact with TC-2 (the polar spacecraft), which was lost early August 2007 was successfully re-established in November. The spacecraft is in good shape and the European instruments (FGM magnetometer, PEACE electron sensor, and NUADU Neutral Imager) were switched on successfully.

Good data have been obtained during December and early January. Since there is only one spacecraft left after TC-1's mission was completed in mid October 2007, ESA's support is now reduced to only science operation for the European instruments. Vilspa II support and the lease line Europe-China have been stopped.

Archiving

The Chinese Project and the PIs have agreed to archive the data of the mission; it is being discussed to perform this activity under the umbrella of the Cluster Active Archive.
