A cut at x=-7.5 RE shows how the plasma enters from the flank.

This movie covers the first 10 hours of the event on 23-24 October where the plasma sheet plasma became denser, and colder during a northward IMF, instead of less dense and hot. The bottom donwload file is larger and covers over 23 hours of the event. This animation is part (page 6) of the presentation "Cold Dense Plasma Sheet Formation During Northward IMF" given by J. Reader at the 2005 Cluster-Double Star symposium.
