This Planck image of a region in the Perseus constellation, taken at 857 GHz, demonstrates the wealth of information that can be gleaned with Planck. At visible wavelengths this region of the sky is dark, reflecting the low level of star formation that is taking place. The Planck images reveal the large amount of interstellar material that is present.
