Planck image (at 143 GHz) of a region in the Perseus constellation
Date: 26 April 2010 Satellite: Planck Copyright: ESA and the HFI Consortium Show in archive: true
This Planck image of a region in the Perseus constellation, taken at 143 GHz, demonstrates the wealth of information that can be gleaned with Planck. At visible wavelengths this region of the sky is dark, reflecting the low level of star formation that is taking place. The Planck images reveal the large amount of interstellar material that is present.
