Invitation to apply for CHEOPS Science Team Associate positions

Invitation to apply for CHEOPS Science Team Associate positions

26 January 2017

The CHEOPS Consortium is inviting proposals from scientists to join the CHEOPS Science Team as CHEOPS Science Team Associate members (CSTA).

Closing date for proposals: 1 March 2017

CHEOPS is the first mission dedicated to searching for exoplant transits by performing ultra-high precision photometry on bright stars already known to host planets. The mission is a partnership between Switzerland and ESA's Science Programme, with important contributions from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Launch readiness is foreseen at the end of 2018.

CSTAs are expected to take an active role in the preparation of the Guaranteed Time Observing Programme, which will fill 80% of the observing time available during the 3.5 year nominal mission.  In return, CSTAs will be granted the same privileges as members of the CHEOPS Science Team (CST) for the duration of their appointment.

The CST is particularly interested in proposed contributions relating to aspects of global mission performance. Up to 5 appointments are foreseen, each of 2 years with the possibility for a 1-year extension.

Further details on the invitation can be found in the announcement (pdf, 220 KB).

Enquiries should be directed, in the first instance, to Didier Queloz (dq212@cam.ac.uk), chair of the CHEOPS Science Team.
