Schedule for the issuing of Call for Proposals 'Cosmic Vision 2015-2025'
10 November 2006
The SPC meeting held on 7 and 8 November 2006 addressed a variety of programmatic issues connected with the long term financial stability of the Science Programme. A general sense of the way forward emerged to guide the Executive to develop a set of measures to resolve open issues and a work plan was agreed leading up to the next meeting of SPC in February 2007 for actions.Pending confirmation of the programmatic context and appropriate funding, a tentative schedule for the Call for Proposals "Cosmic Vision 2015-2025" foresees release of the Call at the end of February 2007, with Letters of Intent due in March 2007 and a briefing to potential proposers at the end of March. Proposals will be due at the end of June 2007. In October 2007 the Advisory Structure will select competitively up to 3 class M mission proposals and 3 class L mission concept proposals for the assessment study phase to be carried out by ESA and subsequently by industry. Class M proposals refer to missions whose cost to ESA should not exceed a 300 Meuros (2006 e.c.) whereas proposals falling in the class L concept category should lead to missions whose cost to ESA should not exceed 650 Meuros.
