David Southwood appointed Director of Science and Robotic Exploration

The Council of the European Space Agency has appointed David Southwood as Director of Science and Robotic Exploration until 30 April 2011.

The appointment was announced following a special Council meeting held on 15 April at ESA's Head Office in Paris. The position of Director of Science and Robotic Exploration was one of five which were opened in November 2007 following an ESA-wide organisational change. This change was triggered by ESA Director General Jean-Jacques Dordain and endorsed by ESA's main governing body, the Council.
