This image shows the Gaia CCD Support Structure flight model. The structure will accommodate all 106 Gaia CCDs and two Wave Front Sensor optical assemblies. The structure is made of Silicon-Carbide (SiC) which guarantees an extreme thermal and mechanical stability.
