Gaia Science – unlocking the Milky Way

Throughout history, astronomers from Hipparchus's time to the present day have looked to the stars to tell us something about the Universe we inhabit, in a bid to understand how we got here.
Gaia, a dedicated astrometry satellite, will map a billion stars of our Milky Way, unlocking the structure and history of our Galaxy.
