Encounters with space and astronomy in Alsace-Lorraine

Epinal, Parc des Expositions, 25 March-2 AprilHow does the Sun affect our environment? Are there other forms of life in the Universe? What worlds should be explored in the solar system? How can we observe and understand black holes and the Big Bang?All these questions will be on the agenda of the 2nd Vosgian Exhibition onSpace and Astronomy, at Epinal(Vosgian capital, in the Alsace-Lorraine region) from 25 March to 2 April.

The exhibition partners include ESA, MATRA Aerospatiale, SNECMA, Strasbourg observatory and planetarium, and the MJC and city of Epinal. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday 25 March at 11h00, with a press conference at 12h00. At 17h00, Dr Bernard H. Foing (ESA Space Science Department) will give a introduce "Solar and Planetary Exploration at ESA". The exhibition will feature models of ESA probes Huygens and Cluster, videos on ESA missions (SOHO, ISO and XMM-Newton), and the new VULCAIN2 motor used on Ariane 5. Visitors can walk inside a miniature solar system, and see a collection of meteorites, and exhibitions on astronomy, space and the Ariane rockets. Through this exhibition, the Alsace-Lorraine public and in particular young people will be able to link further with space and astronomy.
