Lowering JWST's ISIM into the Space Environment Simulator at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center
The Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) houses the four instruments of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). This view from inside the thermal vacuum chamber at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, shows the ISIM, fitted with all four instruments, being lowered by crane into the chamber, where it will spend 116 days in a space-like environment for testing.
