Using theodolites, the spacecraft alignment stability tests were performed shortly after arrival at Kourou to verify the mechanical stability of the spacecraft. These tests included the alignment measurements of the service module, the payload module, and later also the spacecraft thrusters (seen in this image) attached to the service module.
