The structural and thermal model (STM) of the Solar Orbiter spacecraft, pictured in March 2015 at the Stevenage premises of prime contractor Airbus Defense and Space.

Solar Orbiter will carry a suite of 10 instruments. The anvil-shaped structure on the right-hand side of the model is the STM of the SoloHI instrument, a wide-field heliospheric imager provided by NASA.

This photo shows the model without the heat shield mounted.
