This UV image of the middle latitudes of Venus was taken by the Venus Express Venus Monitoring Camera (VMC) from a distance of approximately 15 000 km (orbit #1036, 20 February, 2009). The southern pole is in the upper right corner of the image. The image shows details of the transition from the turbulent "tropics" (lower left) to laminar streaks at high latitudes (upper right).
