Broad K and L iron lines detected in 1H0707-495

Date: 27 May 2009
Satellite: XMM-Newton
Copyright: Image courtesy of A. Fabian

This figure shows the ratio of the spectrum, obtained by combining all four XMM-Newton observations, to a simple phenomenological model composed of a power-law, blackbody and 2 broad emission lines. The normalizations of the broad lines have been set to zero to make this plot. Clearly visible are the ionized iron-L and K peak in the rest frame around 0.9 keV and 6.5-6.7 keV with equivalent widths of 180 and 970 eV, respectively.
