Artist's impression of the XMM-Newton spacecraft in space. The animation shows a close-up view of the 10-metre-long spacecraft. Starting at the end of the spacecraft where the X-ray detectors of the EPIC and RGS instruments are housed, the view rotates around to the other side where the entrance baffles of the three telescopes are located.
