This diagram illustrates the increase in size of X-ray source catalogues that have been produced over the past four decades.

From left to right, they are UHURU (1971), HEAO-1 (1979), ROSAT (1999), 1XMM (2003), 2XMM (2007), 2XMMi (2008; DR2), CSC-1.0 (2009) and the latest release of the second XMM-Newton Serendipitous Source Catalogue, 2XMMi-DR3 (2010; DR3).
