Before, during and at the peak of the Sun storm (Magnetosphere model
from H. Evans, ESA/ESTEC, The Netherlands) On 8 November, the Earth's magnetosphere
was in a quiet state. The next day, a major Sun storm reached the Earth and squeezed the
magnetosphere. This compression was at a maximum between 07:00 and 09:00 UTC.
Rapid fluctuations in the size of the magnetosphere meant that the spacecraft drifted in and
out of the Earth's magnetic bubble during the peak of storm.
