The Cluster spacecraft crossing the Earth's plasmasphere

On 17 May 2001, the four Cluster spacecraft were travelling northward along their orbit (dashed line) and successively crossed the plasmasphere (orange region) at around 30-60 minute intervals. Rumba was the first to pass the plasmasphere, followed by Salsa, Tango and Samba.
