Verifying the frozen-in condition during a dipolarization event

Date: 16 October 2008
Satellite: THEMIS
Copyright: J. McFadden et al.

A comparison between the electric field and -Vi × B, observed by THEMIS during a dipolarization event. A good comparison between the two quantities indicates (bottom three panels) that the "frozen-in" condition is fairly satisfied.

This result was presented by J. McFadden et al. at the First Joint Cluster-THEMIS workshop, held 23-26 September 2008 at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, USA.
