Movie on transients
Short version of a movie of the magnetic field strength and direction in a plane parallel to the equator from high-spatial and high-temporal resolution BATS-R-US simulation. Various forms of transient events can be seen, some with weak core magnetic field strengths, others with strong core magnetic field strengths. The simulations were performed at the Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC) at NASA/GSFC using BATSRUS simulation code developed at the Center for Space Environment Modeling (CSEM) at the University of Michigan. The simulation results (run number David_Sibeck_112707_1) can be viewed at the THEMIS support page at the CCMC Web site: http://ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov/ungrouped/extras/THEMIS_support.php
A longer version of the simulation movie is available as an animated gif at ftp://hanna.ccmc.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/out/ccmc/CCMC_THEMIS_FTEs.gif
