The Exoplanet Roadmap Advisory Team was appointed by ESA for the purpose of advising the Agency on the best scientific and technological roadmap to pursue in order to address one of the most exciting goals in modern astrophysics: the characterization of terrestrial exoplanets.
The EPR-AT has a mandate to consult with the broad scientific community in order to solicit input for their report to ESA. The first step in the consultation process was a Call for White Papers, issued in May 2008. These papers have informed the EPR-AT in their preparation of the draft roadmap.
The purpose of this workshop is to discuss the draft roadmap and to solicit input from the community in preparation for the final report.
The draft of the EPR-AT roadmap will be available from the ESA EPR-AT web pages (http://sci.esa.int/eprat) at least two weeks prior to the meeting.
Workshop Programme
Start: | 09:00 on Wednesday, 7 April 2010 | |
End: | 13:30 on Thursday, 8 April 2010 |
The workshop will begin with an overview of existing and planned facilities and a presentation of the draft EPR-AT report. This will be followed by a panel discussion where the community can pose questions directly to the EPR-AT. In the afternoon of the first day the participants will be divided into working sub-groups to discuss and improve the EPR-AT report. On the second day the sub-groups will present their evaluation of the draft report in a plenary session. The results of this session will help the EPR-AT to prepare the final document.
In the interest of efficiency there will be no contributed talks. Presentations can be made during the sub-working groups, but these should be short (no more than 5 minutes) and with a maximum of 3 viewgraphs.
