The 64 × 32 bolometer array of the short-wave PACS photometer during assembly. The focal plane in the centre of the figure comprises 8 submatrices of 16 × 16 bolometers each. 8 flexible links provide for the necessary electrical connection from the focal plane, operating at 0.3 K, to the buffer amplifier stages, operating at 2 K.
