You can choose Hubble's next discovery – vote before 1 March

2 February 2009

To celebrate the International Year of Astronomy you are invited to participate in the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope's next astronomical discovery. Cast your vote online (before 1 March 2009) to choose your favourite from six candidate objects that will be observed with this telescope for the very first time.

Which of these will be Hubble's next discovery? You can decide.

The candidate astronomical objects include distant galaxies, dying stars and a stellar nursery. Hubble will produce a high resolution image of the object that receives the greatest number of votes. This image will be released, revealing brand new details about the winning object, during the "100 Hours of Astronomy" an International Year of Astronomy cornerstone project taking place from 2 -5 April 2009.

Whether you want to see an eye-catching image or a new astronomical discovery, follow the link (on the right-hand menu) to view the selection of objects and make your choice. By taking part you will be entered into a random prize draw to receive one of 100 new Hubble pictures made of the winning object. Votes must be cast before 1 March 2009.
