On Wednesday 22 July 2009 the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century took place. The location of the Mars Advanced School, held 20-24 July in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, China, lay along the path of totality. Teachers and students of the Mars Advanced School took time out to observe the total solar eclipse. Unfortunately the local weather did not cooperate well.
This photo was taken by an amateur astronomer at another nearby location that had more luck with the weather. Image reproduced with kind permission of http://bbs.astron.ac.cn, Credit: user WxhWjf.
