This image, put together from images produced by the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) on NASA's Mars Global Surveyor (MGS), shows the region of Mars known as the Terra Sirenum and Terra Cimmeria regions. This region, peppered with basins that once held one of Mars' largest lakes, was the subject of a study published in the Journal of Geophysical Research which aimed to better understand past environmental conditions in the region.
