Roger Bonnet meets the SOHO team at Goddard

25 January 1999

As part of a four-day American tour on current European/US cooperative projects, Prof. R.M. Bonnet, ESA's Director of Science, today visited NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center (GSFC). During the visit he met with the SOHO management and operations teams, both to review forthcoming operations on SOHO and, more importantly, to offer his personal congratulations for the extraordinary efforts they put into the recovery of SOHO in the period June to October last year.

"It is thanks to the dedication and professionalism of all of you in the flight operations, flight dynamics and support groups here in Goddard, together with the ESA/MMS team, that we were able to rescue this magnificent spacecraft. Thanks to your efforts we hope SOHO will be producing its fabulous science again in the very near future. The upcoming manoeuvres at the beginning of February are crucial and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continuing support."
