No. 114 - Passive Cruise Phase

No. 114 - Passive Cruise Phase

Report for Period 2 May to 29 May 2009The reporting period covers four weeks in the passive cruise phase #6, which started on 2 April. During this phase the Rosetta spacecraft is configured in Near Sun Hibernation Mode (NSHM) and will remain so until beginning of September. During the reporting period the performance of the spacecraft and the ground segment have been nominal.

Mission operations have been conducted with support of the ESA New Norcia (NNO) ground station.

Future Milestones

The current passive cruise phase will continue until beginning of September when the spacecraft will be reconfigured in active cruise mode in preparation of the Earth swing-by 3 phase.

After the successful launch of Herschel and Planck on 14 May 2009, and the subsequent use of the New Norcia ground station for these two missions en route to L2, a minor re-planning activity of Rosetta's hibernation phase is required to comply with slightly shorter ground station contact times.
