Comet 67P/C-G on 30 October 2014 - NavCam montage

Date: 03 November 2014
Satellite: Rosetta
Depicts: Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko

Montage of four images taken by Rosetta's navigation camera (NAVCAM) on 30 October 2014 at 26.8 km from the centre of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko – about 24.8 km from the surface.

The four images were taken in sequence as a 2×2 raster over a short period of about twenty minutes, meaning that there is some motion of the spacecraft and rotation of the comet between the images.

The images have been cleaned to remove the more obvious bad 'pixel pairs' and cosmic ray artefacts, and intensities have been scaled.

The four individual full-frame images are also available as related images in the right-hand menu. A mosaic of the four images stitched together is available here.

More images of comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko can be found in the '67P - by Rosetta' collection.
